Hallgrímur Helgason is an Icelandic writer and artist, born in Reykjavík in 1959. He published his first novel, Hella, in 1990 and gained international recognition with 101 Reykjavík in 1996. His writing includes acclaimed novels such as The Author of Iceland, The Hitman’s Guide to Housecleaning, Woman at 1000 Degrees, and Sixty Kilos of Sunshine; he has also written poetry, plays, screen adaptations, translations, and political essays.
