Iain McGilchrist is a British psychiatrist, neuroscientist, philosopher, and former Oxford scholar of English literature. He began his writing career with Against Criticism and is best known for The Master and His Emissary, which examines how differing modes of hemispheric attention shape Western culture. His later books, including Ways of Attending and The Matter with Things, continue to combine neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, literature, and cultural criticism.
