John Hawks is an American paleoanthropologist, science writer, documentary presenter, and professor of anthropology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He has written about human origins and evolution on his long-running blog and, with Lee Berger, coauthored Almost Human and Cave of Bones, narrative nonfiction books about the discovery of Homo naledi and other major South African fossil finds. He also creates educational audio and video courses on human evolution and evolutionary science.
