Anthony Berkeley Cox (1893–1971) was an English crime writer, journalist, and founding member of the Detection Club. Writing mainly as Anthony Berkeley, he created the amateur detective Roger Sheringham and became known for inventive Golden Age mysteries, including The Poisoned Chocolates Case, The Piccadilly Murder, Trial and Error, and Not to Be Taken. He also wrote psychologically oriented crime novels under the pen name Francis Iles, including Malice Aforethought and Before the Fact.
