Laurence Bergreen is an award-winning American biographer, historian, and nonfiction writer. A Harvard graduate, he began his career in journalism, academia, and broadcasting before publishing biographies of figures including James Agee, Irving Berlin, Louis Armstrong, Al Capone, Christopher Columbus, Marco Polo, Ferdinand Magellan, and Giacomo Casanova. His narrative histories and exploration books have been translated into twenty-five languages and include works on NASA’s Mars missions and the voyages of discovery.
