Dava Sobel is an American science writer and author who began her career writing for magazines and spent two years as a staff reporter in The New York Times’ Science News department. Her 1995 book Longitude became an international bestseller and enabled her to pursue deeply researched nonfiction books about the history of science, astronomy, and pioneering scientists, including Galileo’s Daughter, The Planets, The Glass Universe, and The Elements of Marie Curie.
