Eric Klinenberg is an American sociologist, public intellectual, and author whose nonfiction examines urban life, social infrastructure, media, disasters, loneliness, and civic culture. He is the author of Heat Wave, Fighting for Air, Going Solo, Palaces for the People, and 2020, and co-authored the bestselling Modern Romance with Aziz Ansari. He is a professor of sociology and director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University, and his writing has appeared in publications including The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine.
