Victoria Holt was the principal pen name of English author Eleanor Alice Burford Hibbert (1906–1993), who also wrote as Jean Plaidy and Philippa Carr. Her writing career spanned five decades and included more than 200 novels; as Victoria Holt, she became renowned for atmospheric historical romantic suspense and was known as the “Queen of Romantic Suspense.”
