Volker Kutscher is a German novelist who studied German, philosophy, and history before working as a newspaper editor. He began publishing crime novels in the 1990s and became widely known for the Gereon Rath series, beginning with Babylon Berlin, a bestselling historical crime series set in Berlin during the late Weimar Republic and Nazi era. The series was adapted into the television production Babylon Berlin, and Kutscher lives in Cologne.
