J. D. Vance is an American author whose writing career began with essays and commentary before the publication of his bestselling 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis. His later book, Communion, explores his return to Christian faith and conversion to Catholicism.
