Ayad Akhtar is an American novelist and playwright whose work explores identity, religion, immigration, money, and American life. He is the author of the novels American Dervish and Homeland Elegies, and the plays Disgraced, Junk, The Invisible Hand, The Who & The What, and McNeal. His honors include the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Edith Wharton Citation of Merit for Fiction, and an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
