Eiko Kadono is a Japanese author of children's literature who began her writing career in 1970 with a nonfiction work inspired by her two years in Brazil. She has published nearly two hundred works, including novels, picture books, nonfiction, and essays; her best-known work is Kiki's Delivery Service, first published in 1985 and later adapted into the acclaimed Studio Ghibli film. Kadono received the 2018 Hans Christian Andersen Award for Writing.
