Alex Marshall is the pen name of fantasy author Jesse Bullington. Bullington is known for darkly comic, grotesque historical-fantasy novels including The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart, The Enterprise of Death, and The Folly of the World, and wrote the Crimson Empire trilogy under the Marshall name: A Crown for Cold Silver, A Blade of Black Steel, and A War in Crimson Embers.
