Kirk Douglas (1916–2020) began his writing career at age 72 with The Ragman’s Son (1988), a widely praised autobiography. He later wrote three adult novels—Dance with the Devil, The Gift, and Last Tango in Brooklyn—as well as memoirs about spirituality, illness, aging, and Hollywood, children’s and religious books, poetry, and I Am Spartacus!. His final book, Kirk and Anne, was a 2017 collection of letters written with Anne Douglas.
