Jay Rubin is an American translator, writer, and scholar of Japanese literature, best known for translating major works by Haruki Murakami, including The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Norwegian Wood, and 1Q84. He has also translated works by Natsume Sōseki and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, edited The Penguin Book of Japanese Short Stories, and written literary criticism on Murakami and Japanese literature.
