Mark Owen is the pen name of Matt Bissonnette, a former U.S. Navy SEAL and member of SEAL Team Six. He began his writing career with No Easy Day (2012), a bestselling memoir of his military service and participation in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, written with journalist Kevin Maurer. He followed it with No Hero: The Evolution of a Navy SEAL (2014), which recounts additional missions and his development as a SEAL operator.
