John Pilkington is a British novelist, playwright, and children’s author who began his professional writing career with radio plays in the 1980s, followed by stage plays and scripts for BBC television. His first novel, The Ruffler’s Child, was published in 2002, after which he concentrated mainly on historical fiction, including historical crime, mystery, and espionage series set in the Tudor, Stuart, and Restoration periods. He lives in Devon and has also taught writing and served as a Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow.
