William Hutson is an American composer, sound designer, and member of the experimental hip-hop group clipping. He co-created the 2019 speculative-fiction novella The Deep with Rivers Solomon, Daveed Diggs, and Jonathan Snipes, expanding clipping.’s song into a story about an underwater society descended from enslaved Africans. Hutson is also known for composing music for films and television, including Room 237 and The Mayor.
