Nelle Harper Lee (1926–2016) was an American novelist best known for To Kill a Mockingbird (1960), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and became a landmark of American literature. She later published Go Set a Watchman (2015), an earlier version of her famous novel, while her posthumous short-story collection The Land of Sweet Forever appeared in 2025. Lee wrote sparingly and largely avoided public attention after her breakthrough.
