Steve Parker is a British crime novelist and former Metropolitan Police officer who served for 20 years in several high-profile squads before retiring with a serious back injury. He began writing fiction by expanding a screenplay he had written while serving as a policeman, which became his debut novel, Their Last Words, launching the Detective Paterson & Clocks series. He has since written ten books in the series, along with the standalone thriller Jack Knife.
