Lawrence Wright is an American author, journalist, screenwriter, and playwright who has been a staff writer for The New Yorker since 1992. He began his writing career in 1971 and has written acclaimed nonfiction about terrorism, religion, politics, culture, and American life, including The Looming Tower, which won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. He also writes fiction, including the novels The End of October, Mr. Texas, and The Human Scale.
