Niall Williams is an Irish novelist, playwright, screenwriter, and nonfiction author born in Dublin in 1958. After moving to County Clare with his wife and writing partner Christine Breen, he began with nonfiction books about rural Irish life before publishing his internationally bestselling debut novel, Four Letters of Love, in 1997. His subsequent novels include John, History of the Rain, This Is Happiness, and Time of the Child; his work is known for lyrical prose, Irish settings, family sagas, and elements of magical realism.
