Jay Barbree was an American space journalist and author whose 55-year career with NBC News made him the only reporter to cover all 166 American crewed spaceflights. He was the lead writer of the New York Times bestseller Moon Shot, co-written with astronauts Alan Shepard and Deke Slayton, and later wrote Neil Armstrong: A Life of Flight and Live from Cape Canaveral, drawing on decades of reporting and personal relationships with astronauts.
