Hans-Hermann Hoppe (born 1949) is a German-American economist, philosopher, and author associated with the Austrian School of economics and libertarian political thought. He has written extensively on economics, property rights, political philosophy, history, and social theory, including Democracy: The God That Failed, A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism, and A Short History of Man. Hoppe has taught at universities in Germany and the United States and has published numerous books, essays, and lectures.
