Karen Russell is an American novelist and short-story writer known for blending literary fiction with fantastical, surreal, and unsettling elements. Her career began with the acclaimed collection St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves (2006), followed by the Pulitzer Prize finalist Swamplandia!, the story collections Vampires in the Lemon Grove and Orange World, and the novels Sleep Donation, The Antidote, and Stag. She has received MacArthur and Guggenheim fellowships and is a Professor of English and Creative Writing at Stanford University.
