Aylmer Maude (1858–1938) was an English writer, translator, and biographer best known for his English translations of Leo Tolstoy, produced largely with his wife, Louise Maude. After living in Russia and becoming acquainted with Tolstoy, he translated major works including War and Peace and wrote the two-volume biography The Life of Tolstoy. He continued translating, writing, and promoting Tolstoy’s work until his death.
