E. E. Cummings (1894–1962), born Edward Estlin Cummings, was an American Modernist poet known for his experimental typography, unconventional syntax, and lyrical love poems. A Harvard graduate, he began publishing poetry in 1917 and went on to write numerous poetry collections, the autobiographical novel The Enormous Room, the play Him, and the travel work Eimi. He was also a painter and essayist.
