Alan Seeger (1888–1916) was an American poet best known for his World War I poetry, especially “I Have a Rendezvous with Death.” After graduating from Harvard, he wrote in New York and Paris before joining the French Foreign Legion in 1914. His Poems and Letters and Diary were published posthumously after he was killed in action in France in 1916.
