Jessie Redmon Fauset (1882–1961) was an American novelist, poet, essayist, and literary editor of the Harlem Renaissance. She wrote for the NAACP’s magazine The Crisis and served as its literary editor from 1919 to 1926, helping launch the careers of writers including Langston Hughes and Countee Cullen. Fauset published four novels, including There Is Confusion, Plum Bun, The Chinaberry Tree, and Comedy: American Style, portraying the lives and aspirations of middle-class African Americans.
