Colette (Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, 1873–1954) was a French novelist, journalist, performer, and woman of letters. She began her writing career with the Claudine novels, initially published under her first husband’s name, and later established herself independently through novels, short stories, memoirs, journalism, and theatrical work. Her best-known works include Chéri, Gigi, The Vagabond, and Sido.
