12-year-old Gwendolyn is a Dream-Shifter who transforms into the animals she dreams about, but when she awakens during elk hunting season, she faces the challenge of returning to her human form and staying safe. Despite her unusual ability, she strives to attend a human-only journalism camp, seeking help from a magician who trains her in magic and grants her access to a magical library. However, a spell on a key book complicates her efforts to find a solution.
