Gates of the Arctic

Set during a pandemic, this novel follows Risa as she and her family seek entry into a new Safe City designed to protect a select few from the virus. After waking up from sedation to find her family missing, Risa grapples with the safety of the city versus the urgency of reuniting with loved ones. Along the way, she encounters new friends and a mysterious soldier, prompting her to confront difficult choices about freedom and self-preservation in a crisis.
