After completing her first big assignment, coal elf Ember Skye believes her troubles are behind her, especially with her arch-nemesis Sturd seemingly powerless and in the shadows. However, Sturd's accidental discovery of an ancient text sparks a new and potentially dangerous turn of events at the North Pole.
