Covey Jencks

Covey Jencks, raised in Odessa, Texas, leaves behind a life of privilege to return home and investigate the unresolved 1979 murder of Freddie Johnson, a Black employee at his family business. As he establishes a small law firm filled with memorable characters, he partners with another Black woman to solve the case, navigating challenges posed by gangs, mobsters, and racist officials.
