Letters with Smokie

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rod Michalko and Dan Goodley engaged in a spirited epistolary exchange inspired by Michalko's late guide dog, Smokie, blending humor, insight, and reflections on human-animal relationships and disability. Through their playful correspondence, they explore themes of disruption, love, and friendship, offering a fresh perspective on how disability can be reinterpreted and understood. Unconventional and engaging, the book challenges cultural misconceptions about disability with wit and thoughtfulness.
