School is out, and 12-year-old Lizzie is excited to spend the summer at her friends' cottages in northern Wisconsin, enjoying outdoor adventures like canoeing and fishing. Amidst the typical challenges of adolescence and the wilderness setting of the 1970s, she becomes captivated by a massive Muskellunge named Goliath. However, a series of unexpected events jeopardize her plans, prompting her to seek help from an unlikely ally in her quest to catch her dream fish.
