Heather Gabriel, a widowed mother working at Magnolia Bay's Animal Shelter, crosses paths with new business consultant Adrian, igniting a mutual attraction she initially resists. Reva Curtis, the shelter’s animal-communication expert, senses their connection and endeavors to bring them closer. With the support of Heather's children and the shelter's animals, they begin to envision a future together, if they can move beyond their pasts.
