Pearl in a Cage

Set in 1923, this story follows a young, pregnant woman found unconscious near the railway tracks in the small logging community of Woody Creek, where her newborn baby survives. Gertrude Foote, the town midwife, becomes the caregiver for the child, Jenny, who grows up amid love and suspicion, with questions surrounding her mysterious origins. As Jenny matures, her striking resemblance to a historical photograph hints at hidden secrets from her past.
