You Can’t See Me!

This dissertation examines Black literature and theology, emphasizing the resilience of Black spiritual traditions in resisting oppressive forces and shaping new, heterodox forms of religiosity. It explores how these diverse spiritual practices function as acts of radical Black collectivity, countering conventional politics of recognition that often fall short of liberation. By highlighting an alternative model rooted in internal strength, healing, and Black feminist insights, the work offers a nuanced perspective on Black protest and liberation beyond traditional avenues of recognition.
