Shelter from the Storm

Fiercely independent naval officer Patience Cartwright, haunted by her past, is compelled to accept a secondment to an environmental team near her childhood home, bringing her into contact with biologist Hugo Halstead, an old flame she cannot forgive. As Patience recovers from a life-threatening illness in the small town of Horseshoe Hill, she begins to see the area's beauty and community as a potential new path, but lingering secrets and shadows from her past threaten to pull her back into uncertainty.
