Nature Poem

"Nature Poem" is a book-length poem that follows Teebs, a young queer American Indian poet, as he grapples with the stereotypes and colonial histories associated with nature and his own identity. Rejecting traditional notions of naturalness and the stereotypes linking Indigenous people to the natural world, he confronts themes of colonization, assimilation, and personal expression. Throughout the poem, Teebs explores his relationship with language, music, and modern culture, ultimately discovering how to faithfully express his unique voice amidst complex historical and cultural narratives.
