Sylvie Townsend longs for a family of her own and finds hope in caring for Polish immigrant Rose Dabrowski, only to face challenges when Rose goes missing at the World's Fair. As Sylvie seeks answers beyond the authorities, she teams up with her boarder, Kristof Bartok, whose skills help them explore immigrant communities and uncover secrets about Rose’s past.
