My Heart Wears No Colors

In "My Heart Wears No Colors," Nancy Owen Nelson explores her southern roots and the ongoing racial tensions in America through a collection of poignant poems. The work traverses historical moments—from the violence of the 2017 Charlottesville incident to the Civil Rights Movement—while examining her family's complex history, including stories of love, persistence, and conflict. Praised for its powerful portrayal of four generations grappling with their Deep South heritage, the poems offer a thoughtful reflection on identity and history.
