The Light That Failed (Dramatised)

Artist Dick Heldar returns to 1890s England after fighting in Sudan, turning to painting as a livelihood while grappling with worsening eye injuries that threaten his vision. Determined to create his greatest work, he uses a prostitute as a model and becomes increasingly reckless as he edges toward blindness. His efforts culminate in a masterpiece that is ultimately destroyed, leading him to make a tragic choice to rejoin his comrades in Sudan, where he meets a fatal end.
