Suliewey is a fictional continuation of Sylvester Joe's journey as he searches for the last remaining Beothuk community, following his previous guidance of William Cormack. Written by Mi’kmaw authors, the novel emphasizes friendly relationships between the Mi’kmaq and Beothuk, highlighting oral histories, traditional ceremonies, and teachings that foster kinship and cultural connection. Rich in language and cultural detail, the story reclaims and celebrates Indigenous relationships on Newfoundland.
