Cavalry scout Judson Stone, on a mission to warn Lawrence, Kansas, about Quantrill and his raiders, finds himself shot and mysteriously transported to a new time and place. As he grapples with guilt over his failed mission and the challenge of returning home, he develops feelings for Sadie Winters, a woman wary of him. Meanwhile, Sadie balances her busy life while uncovering the mystery of Judson's past, ultimately wrestling with the emotional conflict of helping him return to his time, all while falling in love.
