In the Name of the Mother

Set in AD 689, this story follows Cynethryth as she returns from Rome with her late husband's child, Aethelheard, whose uncertain parentage puts him in danger. As the boy is adopted by a distant king in Dorset, he grows up amidst rebellious princes aiming to challenge King Ine of Wessex.
