In Dirty Kitchen, filmmaker Jill Damatac shares a deeply personal exploration of her family's journey through immigration, identity, and belonging, blending memoir, food writing, and colonial history. Having spent twenty-two years in the U.S. as an undocumented immigrant, Damatac traces her path from America to the Philippines and London, where she gains citizenship and seeks clarity about her roots. Through cooking Filipino recipes and reflecting on her experiences, she examines themes of colonialism, tradition, and resilience while pursuing a renewed sense of self.
