Deafening

Set on the eve of the Great War, Deafening explores the life of Grania O'Neill, a young deaf woman in Canada, whose world is shaped by love and the challenges of silence. After moving to a school for the deaf, she learns new ways to communicate and forms a deep connection with Jim Lloyd, a hearing man she marries. Their relationship is tested by Jim’s conscription into war, placing their emotional journey amidst the upheavals of a world at war.
