The Black Shield

After the death of the paladin captain, apprentice wizards Markal and Nathaliey escape their homeland with a powerful red sword, intending to reach safety in the barbarian lands. Their journey across treacherous mountain passes is fraught with danger from giants, griffins, and enemy sorcerers, while they face suspicions from a band of paladins convinced they are deceivers.
